Vista Verde Senior Housing Project
The Vista Verde Senior Housing Project proposes to construct a five-story, 72,593 gross square-foot building with 52 affordable senior housing units, a caretaker’s unit, an elevated deck, a parking garage, landscaping, and other associated improvements.
The proposed project would be located at 10 Irwin Way in Downtown Orinda, to the east of the Orinda Community Church, on a site that is currently occupied by a parking lot.
The Vista Verde Senior Housing Project is being developed by the Orinda Senior Housing Foundation (OSHF). As of August 2023, construction has not begun for the project and rental applications are not being accepted yet. - The project will consist of 8 very-low income units, 30 low-income units, and 13 moderate-income units.
- The units will consist of 33 one-bedroom units and 19 two-bedroom apartments.
- The units will range from 700 to 958 square-feet.
Project Status - Approved
Submittal - The application was submitted to the Planning Department in September 2021.
Planning Commission Recommendation - A Planning Commission meeting was held on July 12, 2022 where staff recommended the Commission adopt Resolution No. 2022-02 recommending the City Council adopt the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration and approval of the project. Following the Planning Commission's recommendation, the project was considered by the City Council for decision.
City Council Approval - A City Council meeting was held on August 16, 2022 where the project was approved and the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was adopted.
