Public Information and Community Outreach

Staying connected with community members is extremely important to City staff. It allows us to develop and foster partnerships with local community-based groups, it builds trust and credibility, and opens the door to have difficult but extremely important conversations. 

In addition to utilizing the City’s website for more static information, the City uses the following tools to disseminate important and timely information to the Orinda community. 

Orinda Way Newsletter

The Orinda Way is the official publication for the City of Orinda. Produced by the Office of the City Manager, The Orinda Way is produced 2 to 4 times a year and provides the community updates on City happenings. Orinda Parks and Rec Activity Guides

The Orinda Parks and Recreation Department produces and delivers three seasonal Activity Guides, and one Summer Camp Guide. You may view the current guide in addition to previous versions by visiting the View Activity Guides webpage.

E-News and Social Media

NOTIFY ME
In an effort to improve city-wide communication, the City has instituted an email notification service that provides updates about City news, including Public Meeting notices, project updates, events, and public safety alerts. To learn more about Notify Me click here

ORINDA OUTLOOK
Once a week, the City Manager sends an email newsletter, referred to as the Orinda Outlook, to those individuals that have subscribed to receive it.  This newsletter includes important department and city-wide information.  If you wish to see and read previous Orinda Outlooks, you can do so by visiting the Orinda Outlook Archived Issues page by clicking here. VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS 
Learn about events, programs, projects, public safety and more by connecting with the City of Orinda on any of the various social media platforms. The City has taken to using social media as a means of reaching out to the community with timely information. 

  • Nexdoor: the City provides frequent updates from all departments on the City Nextdoor account
  • Facebook: Orinda Parks and Rec will post posts program changes, special event updates, field closures, and more
