OYS Fall Soccer, our biggest City of Orinda-based sport league each year, is the perfect place for children in Pre-K through 6th Grade to start and/or develop their soccer careers.
OYS Fall Soccer 2021 will run from September 7-October 23. October 25-30 is set as a make-up week, if needed. Teams from each division have one mid-week Mon-Fri practice followed by a Saturday game for 7 weeks. Practice and game schedules are released roughly two weeks before the season begins each year. Coaches select their team practice time, day, and location based on field availability and preferences.
Weekly practice locations include-
Del Rey Elementary, Glorietta Elementary, Orinda Intermediate School Upper Field, Wagner Ranch Elementary, Sleepy Hollow Elementary
Game locations include-
Del Rey Elementary, Orinda Intermediate School Lower Field, Glorietta Elementary, Wagner Ranch Elementary
Throughout the season, each team practices once per week for one hour at either 4:00pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm, or 5:30pm. Coaches select a practice day, time, and location from a list of available times provided by OYS. If you need to practice on a particular day or time, it is highly recommended that you form a team with friends. See below for more information on teams.
Games are generally Saturdays from 8:30am-2:00pm. Depending on the number of teams in a division, each division plays at 1-2 set time frames each weekend. All games are non-competitive, meaning no official score is kept. The Pre-K & K divisions play 4v4 with no goalie. The 1st & 2nd grade divisions play 6v6 with no goalie. The 3rd/4th grade division plays 8v8 with a goalie. The 5th/6th grade division plays 11v11 with a goalie.
Teams are formed based on coaches' roster requests, friend requests, and school locations. Prompts asking for requests will be present when registering. OYS staff cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted, but OYS staff will do their best to honor as many requests as possible. An unlimited amount of requests can be made for Pre-K - 2nd grade divisions. A maximum of 2 friend requests can be made in 3rd-6th grade divisions to promote equity and fairness within league.
Equipment & Jerseys
OYS provides goals, flags, and one jersey kit (top, shorts, socks). Coaches/parents must provide soccer balls, shin guards, and cleats.
