How to Contact the Planning Department |

Application Submittal |
All submittals are only being accepted electronically. Applications for building permits, discretionary planning applications, and SB 9 applications must be submitted through the Application Submittal Portal here. In-person submittals are not accepted. Application Status - Submittals will be processed in the order they are received. Due to a high volume of applications, please allow at least 2 weeks before contacting the Planning Department for a status update. You may email orindaplanning@cityoforinda.org or call (925)253-4210 for a status update. |

The Planning Department provides professional and personalized service relative to the overall physical development of Orinda, consistent with the General Plan & Housing Element, adopted policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities & Services
The Planning Department is responsible for the implementation of the City's General Plan and Development Code. The Department is also responsible for managing all land use entitlements in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and State Planning and Zoning laws.
Building Permits & Inspections
Building plan check and inspection services are provided through the Contra Costa County Department of Conservation and Development. See the Building Permits page for more information.
